This program is open to students with no previous musical training. Students should be aware of the need for a year-long commitment to the program and to regular practice sessions.

Level 1

This is an introductory course for seven- to nine-year-olds that includes classical and folk methods. Students are taught correct posture and guitar technique including the "rest stroke" and chording. Reading in first position and ensemble playing is also introduced.

Levels 2, 3 & 4

Classes in levels 2, 3 and 4 are a continuation of skills introduced in Level 1. Use of the 'free stroke' and playing two or more notes together is introduced and ensemble skills are further developed.
